Concordia Ontario Elementary Course

COEC students acquire the fundamental knowledge, concepts, and skills of various subject areas while engaging in local perspectives and global ideas.

The COEC recognizes young boys’ natural curiosity and channels it towards their own discoveries. As the first building block in the Ontario education system, it whets boys’ thirst for knowledge and sets the stage for future success in the programme.

It focuses on the development of the whole child (his academic, social, physical, emotional and cultural needs), striving to prepare students to be world citizens and lifelong learners. At its heart is a commitment to “structured inquiry” as a vehicle for learning. Through inquiry, concept-based questions are used to explore curricular themes and to help students to make significant connections between their classroom and the real world.

Students will engage in two categories of learning at COEC:

  1. Learning Skills and Work Habits: Measures the standards for students achievements in work habits and different learning skillsets which are:
  • Responsibility
  • Organization
  • Independent Work
  • Collaboration
  • initiative
  • Self-regulation
  1. Knowledge and Skills: Measures the four broad areas of knowledge and skills for all the subjects they are learning:
  • Knowledge and understanding
  • Thinking
  • Communication
  • Application

All the students achievements in COEC is graded in letter heads by the teachers and academic staffs of COA and accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
